Wegovy™ access in Cheshire and Merseyside

Wegovy® (Semaglutide) – a weight-management treatment – was launched and made commercially available in the UK on September 4th 2023. It is currently only available to NHS patients via specialist Tier 3 or 4 weight management services.

NHS Cheshire and Merseyside is now considering the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) recommendations, as well as associated service needs.

Cheshire and Merseyside’s Area Prescribing Group is expected to consider the issue at its meeting in November 2023, while NHS Cheshire and Merseyside has a dedicated task and finish group to consider any impact on the commissioning of the clinical pathway.
