Learning Disability Week 2019

This years Learning Disability Week (17th-23rd June) is all about sport and inclusion. 

From 17 to 23 June, Mencap are asking as many people as possible, with and without a learning disability, to get involved in inclusive sporting activities in their local communities and raise awareness of the importance of people with learning disabilities to keep healthy and active. Benefits for people with and without a learning disability include improved health and well being, empowerment and greater social inclusion. 

How can you get involved?

Monday 17th June - Zumba session by Together All Are Able at The Johnson Hall, Birkenhead from 11am

Wednesday 19th June - Mencap Wirral bucket collection at Hamilton Square Station, Birkenhead. 10am-4pm

Wednesday 19th June - Join the Treat Me Well group and other Arrowe Park Hospital staff for a walk around the grounds of Arrowe Park Hospital. Walks begin at 12:15pm or 1pm

Friday 21st June - Join the Mencap Big Tea Party in Hamilton Square from 11am-1pm

Saturday 22nd June - Options for Supported Living are having their annual Picnic in the Park in Vale Park, New Brighton, and Mencap Wirral will be there with a stall promoting Learning Disability Week. 11am-4pm

Sunday 23rd June  - Mencap Wirral are asking people to sign up for the Wirral Coastal Walk to help raise money, which is a 15-mile walk along the Wirral coast beginning at Seacombe Ferry and finishing at Wirral Country Park Visitors Centre at Thurstaston.
